Take your kid to work day...

Lex has had some issues at preschool. He has gets time outs almost everyday. So we have a deal, if he gets no time outs he gets to choose a prize. Wednesday he got NO time outs! So he was thinking about what he wanted his prize to be. He had come up with renting the Yankee movie (Everyones Hero) or this...

Lex: I know what my prize could be

Me: What

Lex: How about you take me to daddy's work and then just go away!

So I did just that. I was thinking I would go pick him up in an hour or so. Well he stayed all day. He got to go to lunch and everything. He loved working with Daddy, Uncle Paul, and Jason. Carl said he was really good. He just played in the dirt all day. Carl said it was fun to have him there. I love my cute boys!

10 Random things

10 random things.
1 - Carl vacuumed out the couch. Yes the entire vacuum is on the couch. I guess I need to show him the attachments, or maybe this is how I should vacuum the couch! Whatever the case a smiling man with a vacuum - I just felt it should be documented.
2 - Lex and I went to lunch with Jamie last week. While in the parking lot at Jamie's work Lex started coughing. Then he puked in my hand. Then I tried to puke Jamie laughed. It was fun for the whole family.

3 - Spiderman came for a visit. It's never to early to break out the holloween custume. You should wear yours tomorrow!

4 - We watched the season finale of Greys. I almost cried again. Cant wait until Thursday to see Meredeth, Kali, George, and all my other friends!

5- New James Blunt CD! I love it! Thanks James!

6 - I think Maddie & McKale are the cutest sisters ever! What do you think?

7 - Lex asked us what Heaven was. I think Carl did a very good job of answering.

8 - Carl and Lex did alot of this over the weekend.

Hope you had a great weekend!

Toilet Talk

So yesterday Lex was going potty and I had a nice chat with him. This is how it went....

Lex: Grama Mana has handles on her potty.

Me: Oh!

Lex: They help you go poop!

Reality - Grandma Nana (also know as Grandma Great, Grandma Bodily, and Grandma banana) does have handles by her potty - but I think they are for a different use. What do you think?

Today we went to visit Dr. Smith, the dentist. He is our very nice friend. We will be paying him lots of money and he will make Lex's teeth happy. Lex was very good. I think Recky (Shrek) playing on the ceiling helped.
You may remember last year when Lex went to Dr. Tom. We paid him lots of money and he made Lex's teeth happy for a while, by putting silver caps on 2 of his teeth. Now those teeth get to be pulled out and replaced with a very expensive piece of metal to hold the space.
I need to be grateful that Lex is a very healthy boy except his teeth - I will work on that after we find $3,000 (again) to get them fixed.

What does love mean?

My mom sent this to me and I thought it was cute!

A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, "What does love mean?"

"When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love." Rebecca- age 8

"When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth." Billy - age 4

"Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other." Karl - age 5

"Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs." Chrissy - age 6

"Love is what makes you smile when you're tired." Terri - age 4

"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen." Bobby - age 7
"Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday." Noelle - age 7

"Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well." Tommy - age 6

"Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken." Elaine-age 5

"Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day." Mary Ann - age 4

"I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones." Lauren - age 4

"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn't think it's gross." Mark - age 6

"You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget." Jessica - age 8

Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child. The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said, "Nothing, I just helped him cry"

I think love is when a grandpa and grandma go on rides with their grand kids - even when they don't fit...

The day tragedy struck

Yesterday was Lex's third day of preschool. He was so excited to go - we rushed out the door. In all the excitement we forgot his backpack. The backpack is the most important thing at preschool. As some of you know we had quite a time finding just the right backpack before preschool started. Luckily Miss Janet had a spare.

A nice grocery sack.

I never thought a grocery sack could be used in place of a Silver Surfer backpack. It worked great and fit very nicely around his shoulders (just like a backpack would)! Lex was really excited to show me his new backpack. Miss Janet saves the day!

I also did this yesterday...

I really like the 1 in 48 class so far!

So how do I do this?

I decided to start a blog - Why you ask? Because Lex started preschool last week!
We are all excited .....
Lex is excited to go see Miss Janet and friends.
I am excited to have 2 hours with myself. (yes going to Winco with myself is one of my dreams!)
Carl is excited (not sure if he really is but will say he is).

Since Lex started preschool, I have a list of stuff I am going to do....

  1. Go to Winco by myself.
  2. THIS I am excited to get caught up on some scrap booking
  3. Ride the treadmill 2 miles a day. (yes I did say ride, I am starting of slow)
  4. Get lots of signs in the eBay store like 100 of them.
  5. Clean 1 room in my house everyday
  6. Do 1 load of laundry (including folding and putting away) everyday.
  7. Drink at least 64 oz of water everyday.
  8. Scrapbook
  9. Read books on how to be a good mommy
  10. Keep up my blog (my way of journaling)

We will see how it goes.

Lex loved his first week of preschool. Everyone told me how fast the 2 hours would go by, to my surprise I was waiting for 11:00 to come. The first day I took movies back, went to Carolyn's work and saw her display, went grocery shopping, went home and put the groceries away, and did the dishes. To my amazement I still had 15 minutes before I had to pick him up. Maybe I missed him just a little. I'm sure as I get used to it I will run out of time. Happy day!
